I’m ready for you, 2021

what a joy it is to be writing this!!

we’re putting 2020 behind us, and moving onto to greater things!!

2021 is going to be a big year for me. between graduating high school, adjusting to college, and being away from my family, there will be lots of challenges and emotions.

I like to choose a word for the upcoming year, and this years came to me so randomly one day, I immediately wrote it down so I wouldn’t forget!

for 2021, I chose the word “BLOOM”

when I think of bloom, I think of growing, flourishing, and thriving. I think of expanding comfort zones and breaking out of shells. that is exactly what I want for 2021.

this year, I want to embrace each position that God plants me in, and choose to bloom.

bloom in my faith

bloom in my relationships

bloom when it’s good

bloom when it’s tough

in every situation God places me in, I choose to bloom, to flourish, to grow. I choose to break barriers and live each and every moment.

God’s got 2021 in His hands:: I’m ready!!

k, bye 2020!

what! a! year!

wow, 2020 was one that none of us expected, but even through the insane trials that we faced, some really great things happened, and were here to highlight it all!

My word for 2020 was seek. My vision for this word was to focus on seeking Jesus, seek adventure, seek opportunity, and seek growth. I may not have been able to seek these things in the way I had envisioned, but 2020 sure did give me the opportunity to seek!

During the global pandemic, I had no option but to seek out the good. I was stuck at home with anxiety on high, and I was scared, bored, and needed something.

So I took the opportunity and I sought out Jesus. At this point, I had a great relationship with Christ, but I wanted more!! So each day, I added extra Jesus time to my routine and I began to see a difference in my life!! Such a blessing!!

My time at home also gave me the opportunity to seek out my more creative side! I never considered myself artsy at all, but decided to try anyway. I painted some super fun canvases for my room, started selling digital portraits that I draw on the Ipad, and most exciting of all, I started making personalized starbucks cups and have made a successful little business out of it!

Another super fun adventure that started in 2020 was my youtube channel! This is a scary leap to take, because it’s such a vulnerable move to put yourself on the internet like that, but I’m so thankful I did! This is a brand new journey for me, and I’m learning with every video, but it’s been so much fun!

Every trial that 2020 threw our way was more encouragement for me to lean closer and closer into Jesus, trust in Him, and seek the good. I found peace in the midst of quarantine because I learned to trust God, and that got me through! I came out of quarantine a new person, and I’ll thank 2020 and Jesus for that!

Now let’s recap each month in pictures!

November WOTM

FRIENDS!!! final round of 2020 is here!! let’s do this!!

But first, let’s recap a really great month. November was kinda long, but a lot of great stuff happened. For me, November brought a lot of togetherness. I made a lot of great memories with my friends and family, and there seemed to be so many events that brought us together!

November started with such an exciting event: the election!! I was BEYOND EXCITED to vote for the first time as a fresh 18 yr old! Such a powerful feeling to exercise your right to make a difference!

I danced at my very last high school football game this month, and it was so bittersweet. The past 4 years of dance team have been my favorite memories of high school, and it was sad to see it come to an end!

My friend Hannah came with my family and I to an art festival in a near by city, and it was such a great day! We took cute pics and ate yummy food lol!

Another friend of mine had a birthday, so we got together for a lunch which was so yum and fun, and we took lots of cute pics!!

The youth leadership program that I am a part of met for another session this month, and this one was super fun, because it was all about small business! We got to walk around down town, talk to store owners and do a little scavenger hunt, and it was such a cool experience!

This was the month for birthdays in my friend group, because my bestest friend in the whole world celebrated her birthday too! We celebrated with a dinner and took some fun pics, and it was such a blast!!

My same friend group got together for ‘friendsgiving’ and it was such a good time!

Then… the most exciting time of November: Thanksgiving!! I didn’t get many pictures from thanksgiving, but it was such a great day, and it left me feeling so thankful and blessed!

Here’s some more random moments from November!!

November was such a great month!! I am so thankful for the moments I had together with the people I love the most!! I am feeling so blessed!! Now to make it through the final round of 2020!

October WOTM

hey friends!!

October’s word of the month post is coming quite a few days late, because life got a little crazy! Hurricane Zeta threw my schedule for a loop, but we’ll get to that later!

October was so memorable! This month was just so full if exciting moments, both good and bad lol!

My October started off with our school being closed for a 2 week quarantine, so I had lots of time to babysit, chill at home, and get my work done on my own time!

My and my bestie had a fun fall photoshoot this month, and the pics gave me all the October feels!

I made some super cute personalized Starbucks cups this month, which is always so fun to do! I love my little side hustle!

My first Jadelynn Brooke rep package of the semester came in this month, and I love everything I received!! I am so blessed to be able to work with this company! use my code ‘VPHHS’ at checkout!

Homecoming week this year looked totally different, but it was still so much fun! Click here to read all the details about it!

I was voted to represent as Student Body Maid on the homecoming court this year, and it was SO FUN! I was so honored to represent my school, and the whole experience felt like a dream!

Although we didn’t get a normal homecoming dance, my friends and I made the most of our situation and went to dinner and took some photos!

The next week, hurricane Zeta went right over my town, and it was much worse than we expected! There wasn’t any major damage to my house/property, but we were out of power for almost 48 hours! This set me back in my school and blog work, so it took a little bit to get all caught up.

October was one for the books! I’m thankful for all the moments, good and bad that God gave me this month, and I am SO excited that were one step closer to the end of 2020! lol!

here’s some more random October mems!

thanks for reading!! xoxo!!

HOCO week 2020 recap

The best week of the school year has come and gone, and it looked a whole lot different this year.

Homecoming week always holds the most and the best memories of high school, and I am so excited to share my senior hoco experience with y’all! In years past, we would have pep rallies everyday with the whole school, but with covid, things obviously had to change. Instead of the whole school attending pep rallies daily, they were broken up and each class went on a different day (M-freshman, T-sophomores, etc.) But since I’m on the dance team, I preformed at each pep rally!

Our dress up days were super fun this year, but I only got a dress up picture from Monday… Im the worst blogger LOL!

We had Mardi Gras Monday, Tired Tuesday, Twas the Night Before Christmas Thursday, and Fired Up Friday! **wednesdays are a virtual learning day so we stay home**

Friday was the BEST and most important day, because that’s when the Senior Homecoming Court got announced!! I was SO honored to be voted as Student Body Maid by my school, and I had the best time representing!!!

During Friday’s pep rally, we were escorted by a classmate and presented to our class! I wore the cutest and comfiest jumpsuit from Tommy Hilfiger , with some fun red heels and earrings!

Friday evening at the football game, the Homecoming Court was presented again in our ballgowns, and it was so special!! It rained on us, but it was still so magical, and I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to represent my school!! As Student Body Maid, I wasn’t in the running for queen, but my best friend was and she WON!! I am so so proud of her, she’s the most deserving gal!!

We weren’t able to have a dance due to covid restrictions, so my friend group decided to make the most out of our situation and take photos and go to dinner together, and it was so much fun!!

This homecoming week was SO different than I could have ever imagined, but it was still such a special experience!! I still can’t believe it’s my last one in high school!!

I vlogged the last day of hoco week!! click below to watch!!

September WOTM

Happy spooky season!! It’s already October… is this even real life?!

September is always one of my most favorite months because it’s my birthday month!! My September was exciting. There were so many great moments throughout this month, and I feel so blessed that I get to reflect and share them with you!

My birthday is the 3rd, so September pretty much started off with me celebrating 18! I had such a great birthday, and I just felt overwhelmed with love. Before school, my bestie and I got some birthday coffee and donuts to celebrate, and that weekend, my parents took me to New Orleans for our annual celebratory day! We had brunch at my favorite restaurant, The Ruby Slipper, then we did some shopping.

I also got to celebrate a friend’s birthday! A group of us went to dinner together, and it was so much fun! Something about celebrating people makes me so joyful!

This month, I took my senior banner pictures for dance team, and I felt all the emotions! It was so exciting, but also bittersweet. I remember being a freshman thinking this day would never come, and here we are! Time is crazy!!

We had our first home game of the season (which are the only games we dance at due to covid), and it was SO MUCH FUN! Football games are my favorite part of high school, and I am so thankful that we still get to have them!

I worked on a few cup orders this month, but totally forgot to take pictures of them all. Here are a few I got.

The youth leadership program that I am a part of started back up this month, and it was so nice to be back!

We had a second home this month, and it was just as exciting as the first! There’s nothing better than dancing under the Friday night lights!

Here are a few extra random photos from this exciting month! So many memories made in September!!

so!! many!! exciting!! and special!! moments!!

September was GOOD, and I am so thankful for all the memories made. God is good!! I already know that October is going to be great, and I’m praying for all the blessings!! xoxo

August WOTM

Another Word of the Month post, another step closer to 2020 being over!!!

Happy happy September, pretty people!

August was a good one, and it was honestly so reviving for me.

At the beginning of August, I started my senior year of high school. I missed school SO MUCH, so I was so so happy to be back with all my friends learning again. With school starting, that meant I was back with my dance team girls everyday, and I’m just feeling all the happy feelings!

I started a little cup personalizing business this month, and I have had so much fun making them! It took off way quicker than I expected, which is such a blessing!

I started vlogging shopping trips here and there throughout August, and thats been a fun adventure! click here to get caught up!

A month in my life would not be complete without a few coffee dates my bestie haha!

This month, I got voted Student Body Maid for homecoming court at my school, and I am so excited! I am so grateful for this opportunity to represent my school!!

August felt good. I was back in my element, and I just felt so recharged and revived. I am so thankful for the amazing memories made, and I am so ready to September! xoxo

eighteen.

Birthdays are my all time favorite!! They’re so happy, and it’s so fun to celebrate life!!

I feel beyond blessed to have been given the past eighteen years on this earth. That’s 6,570 days that I’ve gotten to experience God’s love & beauty & kindness & joy. How special is that?!

Since I’m an adult now (lol I still feel 12), I thought I could share 18 special life lessons with ya!

1//Above all else, seek Jesus.

2//Be okay with being left out.

3//Read ya bible.

4//Be kind even when it’s not cool.

5//Go for your passions, stop waiting.

6//The right time is never coming.

7//Stay away from negative people.

8//Be kind to your body.

9//There is literally no reason for enemies.

10//Trust your gut.

11/Love always.

12//Start saving your money now.

13//Stop being afraid of being different.

14//Coffee is indeed always the answer (after Jesus hehe).

15//Follow Jesus, not your heart.

16//Take some time to breathe

17//Always use your best effort.

18//Stop being sorry for being you.

I may not know much, but I know these things to be true.

Here’s to 18! I am so ready to see what God will teach me, and I pray it’s the best year, yet.

xoxo

5 Lessons from Quarantine

Hey loves!

It’s no secret that this pandemic has changed us all in some kind of way. For me, quarantine became a time for growth. I tried my best to stay positive through the whole process, and looking back, I came out of quarantine much better than I entered.

I wanted to share with y’all a few things that this quarantine taught me, and how it truly helped me!

#1//Slow down!! I feel like I’ve been a pretty busy gal my whole life. I was always involved in sports, clubs, and everything else under the sun, so slowing down was a foreign concept to me. When quarantine started, I thought I was going to be bored out of my mind because my type 7 self is non-stop! But little did I know, slowing down is exactly what my mind and body needed. I was able to learn so much about myself, spend more time with God, and get creative. That leads me right into my number 2…

#2//Explore your creativity!! Y’all:: I am SO unartisitc!! But during quarantine, I decided tap into my creative side, and I had SO MUCH FUN! I painted and got into digital art, which are two things I thought I would never be artistically capable of doing!

#3//Give that extra time to Jesus. Y’all, we have way more down time than we tend to tell ourselves we have. I’m SO guilty of picking up my phone and scrolling through Instagram instead of using that time to pray, read and reflect. But over quarantine, I gave extra time to Jesus, and I FELT IT!!! Such a special feeling!!

#4//Life is SO much more unpredictable that I thought. Seriously!! I’ve always believed “you’re not promised tomorrow”, or “you never know what tomorrow may bring”, BUT A PANDEMIC?! Like, what?! This pandemic has confirmed those statements above! God works in mysterious ways, and He was not afraid to throw us a curve ball in what seemed like overnight!

#5//Pick up a book more often. Over quarantine, I read a few books, and it made me realize how much I missed reading. I was so caught up in my busy lifestyle, so I never made time to slow down and read. Being able to live through the characters and setting of a book is just so much fun, and it’s a feeling I didn’t even know I missed!

As selfish as it sounds, this pandemic has helped me in so many ways. I got the mental rest and reset that I needed so badly, and I learned so much about myself and my faith. My heart still breaks for all of those negatively effected by covid, and I continue to pray for them. I came out of quarantine a new person, and I’m forever grateful for how God used this situation to strengthen me. He makes beauty from ashes! leave a comment telling me what you learned from quarantine! luv u all!! xoxo
